Unit 1 Using Objects and Methods

This unit introduces the Java programming language and the use of variables and classes. Students will learn about three built-in data types and how to create variables, store values, and interact with those variables using basic operations and writing arithmetic expressions. Students also learn to use Math and String class methods and using objects like Turtles and their methods to draw on the screen.

  • Time Estimate: 45 minutes per lesson except 90 minutes for 1.14 and 1.15. At least 10 class periods for review, practice, and progress checks.
